It’s no wonder why this is the abode of all the great saints …
For me it was truly a life changing experience and I got a refreshing break.
But, the freezing cold conditions were tough to negotiate especially as I had never been to really cold places 🙂
Thank you so much for your visit and have a beautiful day 🙂

This place is called Bojwasa near the Gaumukh glacier where the mighty river Ganga originates…
The altitude is around 12000 feet and we need to walk 15 km to reach this stunning place surrounded by snow capped mountains…
It was truly an incredible experience 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your kind words 🙂

This is where the most sacred river for Indian’s, ‘The Ganges’ originates…
For many millennia it’s been a holy place and people goes there on pilgrimage.
But, for me, it was a dream of a decade, and finally turned out to be such an inspirational and life changing experience 🙂
To be frank, I could really capture the beauty of the place, due to tough weather conditions and inadequate gadgets…
But, I will truly cherish those moments for ever 🙂

A gorgeous photo Sreejith and in reading through the comments it sounds like quite the adventure! Did the altitude bother you at all? It looks like an astounding place to visit. So tranquil and peaceful.

Yes, Sue, it was quite an adventure for us, not entirely due to the terrain, but our lack of exposure…
I certainly had altitude related issues, headache, breathing trouble and exhaustion etc;
But, There was nothing like, being in the lap of pristine nature 🙂
There are many an Ashrams, even further beyond the glacier where Yogis and saints live round the year… unbelievable…
This place is treated to be one of the holiest in Hindu mythology as well, as the sacred river ‘Ganges’ originated from here…
Anyway, before setting off to Himalayas I have to be really prepared 🙂

This place was freezing cold and I don’t know how people stays here…
I stayed there one night during our trek and decided to walk an extra 15 kilometers the following day to avoid one more day there 🙂
The stunning view in this serene place was the consolation and sadly I couldn’t make the best of photographic opportunities…
Hope to return to the Himalayas at the earliest, it’s magical 🙂

You must really have been uncomfortable to walk an extra 15km! I’ve walked in the Himalaya foothills in Nepal, and I agree, the mountains are stunning.

Only thing was, I was not really ready to face the extreme low temperatures…
Hope you have shared those images in your blog, let me search 🙂

As we are from tropics and never experienced the sub zero temperatures, it really was tough for us…
But looking back at the images, now it feel great 🙂 I think that’s the beauty of travel, only the positive side remains in our memory, right?

Yes Amy, the place where river Ganga, the holy one for Indians, originates…
It’s a pilgrimage for many, but a trip to reinvent my-self, for me 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words and I really like telling stories, especially when I have such a great audience 🙂

Gorgeous and peaceful photo, Sreejith! It reminds me of the many camping trips my family has gone on…there’s nothing like the outdoors to clear the mind.

‘Clear the mind’, that’s why I went there and I came back refreshed 🙂
We really don’t have that camping culture here in India but slowly people are getting to taste this experience…
I had only one such experience, but truly an unforgettable one 🙂

I read the comments about the cold (brrrrrrr) – but the first thing that jumped out at me was the diagonal movement in a line taking us from the orange scarf to the tent to the backdrop of this wonderful mountain cove. and then what a sky!

So nice to see your observant comments, Yvette 🙂
Frankly, it was really a tough place to live and explore, freezing cold and snow falls, which I never experienced before this trip.
But, the views were simply out of this world…
You will fall into meditative mode automatically in this place and there is something divine…
Considered as one of the most holy by Indians, it was not just the sights, but the whole experience that makes you calm and relaxed.
I needed that break so badly and I feel refreshed …
A break work wonders and especially in places like these it teaches you what you really value in life and what for you should live 🙂
