You are Blessed …

BlessedIt has been a long time since my last post here in this great forum…

The year passed by was, one of the most challenging both personally and career wise.

Though I tried to make a come back from the long hiatus many a times, I couldn’t.

Finally I broke free, took some bold decisions and feels at peace and confident.

This is the place, from which I get all the support and encouragements and I can’t wait any longer.

Now I feel that, finally I am back, where I truly belong to and eagerly waiting to be in touch with my friends and all the wonderful people here 🙂

Note on the image: I have posted many an images of Theyyam, the ritualistic folk art form of Northern most Kerala earlier. Being from the hearland of Theyyam (Kannur), and in the middle of Theyyam season, I can’t imagine of better image than this for my come back.

You can get lot of information with a google search for ‘Theyyam’, so I am not duplicating it here.

      We are right in the middle of Theyyam season and it’s hard to resist posting Theyyam related images.

      When I am at a theyyam place, my mind goes through different emotions…

      Scope for photography is obviously one aspect but the village boy in me see it from an entirely different dimension, something deeply rooted, that of devotion and worship.

      I really wish to believe that I am being blessed in life and all challenges to be turned in to opportunities 🙂

  2. A vivid image, Sreejith. Love the vibrant shades and I think you captured the spirit of the occasion. Sounds like you had a challenging last year. With every challenge, you get stronger, and I hope you had some breakthroughs or at least gained some wisdom. Sometimes we all need some time away from the things we love doing like blogging or our true passion to deal with life, and to go away and get some perspective all round. Wishing you well for the year ahead. Take care 🙂

      It was quite an year, that’s passed by, and I didn’t have an option, but get stronger and stand up…

      Learnt the hard lessons of life when we lost so many close relatives quite unexpectedly.

      But, a good and challenging time ‘work wise’ and my kids helped me move ahead and keep a positive frame of mind.

      I am looking forward to this year with lots of expectations and hope.

      I was really lucky to get a chance to see a Theyyam and receive the blessings at a nearby temple 🙂

      Now, after almost an year, I am back from the self imposed hibernation and be among all you wonderful people 🙂

      It has been a great year so far and getting back here also helped immensely.

      I have indeed taken some bold decisions and after 3-4 years of toil, I could see the rewards 🙂

      The best thing about Theyyam is, it’s still not become a performing art and practiced with the age old rituals and traditions.

      In some of the temples and sacred groves where it’s performed, electric light is not used and photography by any means is strictly forbidden.

      It is something to experience rather than just ‘see it’.

        Some hotels and tour companies are enthusiastically promoting Theyyam tours. How do the traditional performers see that?

        1. I know there are quite a lot of buzz around Theyyam and many tour operators are organizing tours also.

          As you might be aware of, Theyyam is performed in the northern most districts of Kerala, called Kannur and Kasaragod. Theyyam season starts from late October and end just before the Monsoon rains in May. During this period, especially from December to April, it’s assured that, there will be a Theyyam somewhere in these two districts.

          So, tour operators, go by the Theyyam Calendar and plan their tours. It’s not performed for tourists according to their convenient time and place, but the other way around.

          The traditional performers are getting more benefited with it’s popularity now a days. Even the locals are more keen to watch Theyyam and get it’s blessings now a days.
