It was the first time that I have seen such a big Butterfly/Moth … and luckily this guy was slow and I got enough time to get closer and shoot some images.

It’s really really big… life a bird, nearly a foot long wingspan…
It was my first experience spotting the biggest month on the planet and that too in my garden 🙂

Even my kids had the same feeling…
When it flew away, it looked like a bird in slow motion. It gave an impression that it’s wings are far too heavy for it’s small body.
A good experience for us any way 🙂

I’ve been out and about with another photographer here and there and I’ve noticed how much easier it is with 2 pairs of eyes versus one pair. Keep having fun with your camera. I hope you had a beautiful day today, Sreejith! 💝

It was quite an experience… I haven’t seen anything even half it’s size before …
It’s also called Snake Headed butterfly for the beautiful patterns at the top ends of it’s wings…

We have Cecropia and Luna moths that are large like this; they hatch in the spring and only live a short while, so are a treat to see when we do.

Moths are very cooperative when filming them but it’s hard to get a good butterfly shot 🙂

I always missed a macro lens when I spot beautiful butterflies in our garden, but this time even a wide angle lens was good enough 🙂

You are absolutely right …
For me the best way to relax is getting closer to nature and try capturing images of flowers, small insects, butterflies etc; it has a meditating effect.
Whether or not these photos are worth sharing or publishing, they opens up a new world to me, a word of beauty and wonder…
This visitor was no exception either 🙂

I have only seen this moth in indoor butterfly gardens.
Lucky you, you got to see this one in the wild. It is such a thrill to capture nature in the wild, compared to when they are restricted or worse caged.
