One of the communities that got affected most during the current pandemic is the one performing Theyyam in North Kerala.
They almost lost another complete season and their lives are definitely disrupted …

The life of Theyyam performers were always tough and the current Pandemic made it tougher.
They used to earn only during the Theyyam season, that’s the summer months in Kerala and live out of this savings for the rest of the months.
They almost lost two seasons due to Covid restrictions and their lives are indeed disrupted.

I know, many lives are badly affected with this on going Pandemic and we never know when it’s going to be back to the old normal …
Here in India, a huge population who works as daily wage laborers, artists and artisans are all struggling.
Many who follow age old art forms, doesn’t know any other livelihood options and their lives are totally disrupted …

Dear Gunta, sadly, their lives are disrupted for not so good reasons …
The community in picture belongs to Theyyam performers and with the onset of the Pandemic last year, all religious and cultural gatherings are affected.
Thousands of families which are connected to this age old art form are now looking for alternative options for livelihood.
